Rabbits have delicate digestive systems, so feeding them the right foods is essential for their health and happiness. While their main diet should consist of hay, fresh water and rabbit pellets. The good news is that several common fruits, vegetables, and herbs are not only safe but also enjoyable treats for rabbits. It's time to fridge raid to dig out your leftovers to treat your rabbit..
1. Carrots
Benefit: A true classic rabbit treat, loved for their natural sweetness and crunch. They are rich in beta-carotene, fibre, and vitamins.
Caution: Feed carrots in moderation because they contain sugar and wash thoroughly and remove any green tops, which can be harmful.
2. Romaine Lettuce
Benefit: Romaine lettuce is a great leafy green option that rabbits enjoy. It provides hydration and fibre without excess calories.
Caution: Avoid iceberg lettuce, which has little nutritional value and can cause digestive upset, sash leaves well to remove pesticides and always serve fresh and crisp where possible for the best texture.
3. Bell Peppers
Benefit: Bell peppers add color and crunch to a rabbit’s diet. They are high in vitamin C and antioxidants.
Caution: Remove seeds and stems before feeding and offer small pieces to prevent choking.
4. Apples
Benefit: Apples are a tasty fruit treat that rabbits can safely eat in small amounts.
Caution: Remove seeds and core, as apple seeds contain cyanide (extremely important) and limit quantity due to natural sugars.

Caution: You can either feed fresh or frozen blueberries, offer only a few berries at a time and always wash thoroughly before serving.
