I guess you've read the title and intrigued with what we mean.. let's explain. By walking different dogs, different temperaments and different quirks, you begin to highlight your personal insecurities as different walks brings different situations and different conversations. It's time to dive in and point out a situation that has been common for all of at least once or twice and what it may indicate for you: Let's set the scene.. your dog is reactive or not listening to you on a walk, this can put you in a weird feeling which you don't want to cause a scene, you may feel embarrassed or appear as you are lacking control. Yes, all three may occur, however, we talk from one comfort of dog lover to another - we get you and we see you are trying. You have to focus on what's happening for you and don't worry what others thing or worry about their opinion of you! Tip: Create an action plan on changing the things you can do to help the situation. Firstly, here are some questions to run through to point you in the right direction: Reactive? Yes. Why? Is it pain? Do you need a Dog Trainer? Is it excitement or fear reactivity? Not listening to you? Yes. Go back to the basics and thrive from the foundation up. Secondly, think about how it all makes you feel and why! You will mostly need to start looking forward to dog walks again, we recommend calming your nervous system as your flight or fight is probably hard wired.
