Bathtubs may become your cat's new play area!

Cats often surprise their owners with quirky behaviors, and one of the most curious is their fascination with bathtubs. We assume you're here as you've noticed your cat jumping into the tub, pawing at the drain, or even splashing in small puddles of water left behind. This behaviour can seem puzzling since cats are known for their dislike of water but it can become their favourite play area - here's why!

Cats are naturally curious animals. The bathtub offers a new and different environment from their usual surroundings. It's smooth, cool surface contrasts with the textures cats encounter daily, making it an intriguing place to explore. The shape of the tub creates a cozy, enclosed space that some cats find comforting. This sense of enclosure can mimic the feeling of a den or safe hideout, which appeals to their instinct to find secure resting spots.

Furthermore, many cats are fascinated by water in small amounts. The bathtub often has residual water droplets or puddles that catch their own attention. Cats may paw at these droplets, watching them move or trying to catch the reflections and ripples. This behaviour is similar to how cats play with toys that move unpredictably, engaging their hunting instincts.

Cats may enjoy playing in the bathtub depending on the weather. Cats often seek out cool spots to lie down, especially in warm weather. The smooth porcelain or acrylic surface of the tub provides a refreshing place to relax.

We love the quirky behaviours of gorgeous cats!
